LYRICAL DRSMITH ARCHIEVES
A Jos based upcoming artist, Simon Smith Segak popularly
known as Lyrical Dr Smith was signed by an Abuja based
musical record label M.O.S.S. The signing of the contract
ceremony took place in Jos the Plateau State Capital.
President of the record label Mr. Donald ‘Maacdi’ Mbaka
revealed that the choice of Lyrical Dr.Smith is as a result of
his potential as a natural artist and his unique talent needs
to be heard globally. Maacdi maintained that the deal is for
the period of 3 years which is subject to renewal adding
that the artist is to produce 2 musical albums within the
time frame of the agreement. Lyrical Dr Smith said “I
consider this opportunity as an avenue to explore my
potential to the world and I promise my fans out there that
you are going to hear more of me more often”. Lyrical Dr
Smith whose real name is Simon Smith Segak hails from
Pankshin LGA, a presenter with Unity FM 93.3 in Jos raps in
both English and Hausa started music at the age of 7.
Speaking about himself, Lyrical Dr Smith said “I use to beat
our dining table, empty milk can miming rap songs when I
was 7 and later joined a music performing /dance group
called ‘The Lords Ship’. The group consists of 5 members
and what we basically do in the group is singing and
dancing in churches when invited, birthdays, naming
ceremonies. I was the rapper in the group”. In 2008 Smith
won a rap battle and was given a free session by first wave
and SUKASOUNDS to produce a song titled: Shining Bright.
In 2015 Jeremiah Gyang featured Smith on his song
‘DanGata (Meaning Royalty)’. The song is currently trending
nationwide. Smith went further to say he sees his contract
signing with the M.O.S.S record label as an open door to
what he cherish doing in life, as well as fruits of his hard
labor and determination over the years.
